About Black Lab Photos & Frames

Having been a keen photographer for the past 25 years John has turned his hobby into a full-time occupation and set up Black Lab Photos and Frames, named after the family’s pet black Labrador.

It was decided at the outset to produce digital images and these are printed on professional photo paper. This process also allows John to do photo enlargements and repairs easily and quickly.

As frames were not readily available John attended a professional training course on picture framing which he found invaluable and enabled him to open his own framing workshop.

This now enables Black Lab to deliver a quality handmade product at a very reasonable price and in a variety of sizes to suit customers’ requirements.

John gets his inspiration from the beautiful scenery of the Outer Hebrides and he only has to look out of his window to see the ever changing and spectacular lighting effects in this most wonderful part of the world. This is shown in many of his strikingly colourful photographs, from the blue and white "Skytrails" to the exquisite "Taransay Gold."
